Instructional Design - Middle School Mathematics

We’re looking for a middle school or high school mathematics teacher to join the instructional design team of a highly creative educational software firm on a contract basis.

This role would involve writing interactive mathematics scripts for students in middle school.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidates will be tech-savvy and able to write complex mathematics materials (scripts and storyboards) in a clear, concise manner. Strong communication skills, creativity, and an attention to detail are an absolute must. Candidates must possess middle school or high school mathematics teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an instructional design background. Candidate should have an excellent ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced team environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION/SKILLS:

  • Read content outlines, best practice articles, and explore interactive mathematics websites to inspire lesson prototypes.
  • Develop lesson prototypes based on predetermined content and lesson flow. 
  • Participate in conceptual brainstorming meetings on lesson contexts and topics.
  • Write mathematics scripts and design storyboards for interactive mathematics lessons following specific writing guidelines.  
  • Work closely with subject matter experts, content editors, interaction design editors, illustrators, and developers to ensure content is delivered efficiently and within specified parameters.
  • Edit and revise script and storyboards based on feedback from subject matter experts, content editors, and interaction design editors.
  • Attend bi-weekly writer’s meetings to learn and share instructional design tips.

Flash / ActionScript Game Developer

We’re looking for a talented ActionScript programmer / Flash game developer familiar with AS3, to join a highly creative educational software firm.
This role would involve creating interactive educational content designed for students in elementary and middle school.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years experience with Object Oriented Programming languages and complete fluency with the Flash authoring environment.
Enthusiasm to work in a team and educate colleagues on best practices and preferences as well as a disposition to learn and adhere to best practices is essential!

SKILLS:

1. ActionScript 3.0
2. Experience working with the Flash IDE
3. Basic understanding of user experience issues
4. Good design sense and interest in children’s games, cartoon shows a plus!
5. Ability to self-manage projects and work within tight deadlines
6. Team oriented, self-motivated with a can-do attitude
